JOHN W. POILLON SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE at the Fort Leavenworth Army Education Center. The scholarship is open to high school seniors who are dependents of U.S. military members currently or within the past 24 months assigned to Fort Leavenworth or civilians who are currently employed at Fort Leavenworth by the U.S. Government or a non-appropriated fund. The application deadline is March 26.


THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 207 IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM DISTRICT PATRONS (active-duty military and spouses) residing on Fort Leavenworth who have children within the school district and are interested in serving on the school board. The commanding general will appoint the new board member to the position once a candidate has been selected. Title 10, Section 973(c), Federal Public Law “allows an officer (or a noncommissioned officer) to hold nonpartisan civil office on anindependent school board that is located exclusively on a military reser-vation.” Military spouses are alsoeligible for appointment and encouraged to apply. Applicants should submit a letter of interest that discusses their reasons for wanting to serve on the board and a resumé. These positions are appointed by the commanding general, and all board members serve at his pleasure. Letters with resumés should be submitted by close of business on Jan. 21, 2022, to: retired Col.
