Last fall, 66 people positively changed their financial future through Financial Peace University at Frontier Chapel.
FPU is a 13-week DVD course taught by nationally syndicated radio host and financial counselor Dave Ramsey.
FPU teaches particpants how to develop a plan for their money so they are able to build lasting wealth. Topics include saving for emergencies, getting out debt, investing for retirement and college, and giving. The lessons empower and provide hope to everyone from the financially secure to the financially distressed.
When the last FPU class began in late August, the initial financial snapshot was:
Total students: 85 people
Total class debt: $1,659,902
Total class savings: $2,437,852
Total class net worth: $777, 950
When the class ended in early December, the final financial snapshot was:
Total students: 66 people
Total class debt: $536,391
Total class savings: $2,026,000
Total class net worth: $1,489,609
The difference: Total class debt was reduced by $1,123,511 and total class savings was reduced by $411,852. However, even with the class attrition of 19 people, total class net worth skyrocketed to $1,489,609 — an increase of $711,659!
“FPU is a fun and easy to understand program. Whether you are deeply in debt or financially secure, FPU will help you gain a new perspective on how to handle your money,” Ramsey says. “These lessons are especially essential right now as people are trying to regain control of their finances.”
The next FPU class begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 21, with sign-in and member kit purchase starting at 5 p.m. at Frontier Chapel, 625 Thomas Ave. Free preview classes will be given at 12:15 p.m. Feb. 5 and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at Frontier Chapel.
