University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little — the university’s first woman and first African-American chancellor — will deliver the keynote speech at Fort Leavenworth’s Black History Month luncheon Feb. 9.
This year’s theme is Black Women in American Culture and History.
Gray-Little became KU’s 17th chancellor in 2009 and oversees campuses in Lawrence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Salina and Wichita, as well as research and educational centers in Garden City, Hays, Parsons, Pittsburg, Topeka and Yoder.
Before coming to KU, Gray-Little was executive vice chancellor and provost at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C.
The luncheon is hosted by the post’s Combined Arms Center – Training, which is responsible for Army training development and training support.
Luncheon tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the post’s Equal Opportunity Office or from unit equal opportunity leaders. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Frontier Conference Center, 350 Biddle Blvd. Tickets are not required to attend the program.
