  • The 30th annual Command and General Staff College Triathlon starts at 8 a.m. May 4 at Harney Sports Complex. The course consists of a 200-yard indoor swim, a 12.6-mile bike route and a five-kilometer run. Cost is $60 per person or $75 for two- to three-person teams. Pre-register and save $5. Packet pick-up is 4-6 p.m. May 3 at the Frontier Conference Center. There will be awards for the overall male and female winners, the top three in each age group, and the top male, female and mixed relay team.     The Brunner Range Skeet and Trap monthly fun shoot is 9-10:30 a.m. May 4 at 701 Sheridan Drive. Cost is $30 and includes 50 targets, a meal and door prizes. Shotguns, ammunition, hearing and eye protection are available for rent. There will be prizes for high skeet, high trap, high five-stand, high overall, high youth and high lady.     The Fort Leavenworth Outdoor Adventure Series Lewis and Clark Adventure Fest starts at 8 a.m. May 11 in the south parking lot of Gruber Fitness Center. This is part of the May 2019 Strong B.A.N.D.S. (Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength) series. The course will consist of orienteering, paddling on Smith Lake, word challenges and other events associated with Lewis and Clark. There will be a family-friendly sprint course and a longer Olympic course. Cost is $20 per person or $45 per team of three or more.     The Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club Kids’ Fishing Derby starts at 8 a.m. May 18 at Smith Lake. Cost is $3 for non-members; members fish for free. Bait will be available for purchase at the event. Medallions will be awarded to the top anglers in each of the five age groups and there will also be door and participation prizes.     The Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation army open is 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 30 at Trails West Golf Course. Cost is $85 for pass holders and $105 for non-pass holders. There will be more than $10,000 in prizes and gifts, 18 hole prizes, four flights based on 32 teams, complimentary beverages, box lunch and dinner. Hole-in-one wins a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
