      Resources for on-post residents

On-post housing residents should contact these resources about housing concerns:

      • The Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities Management Office, 220 Hancock Ave., is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (913) 682-6300.

      • The FLFHC Maintenance Office and Self-Help Store, 800 W. Warehouse Road, phone number is (913) 651-3838. Residents can also submit routine maintenance requests via e-mail at fhcmaint@tmo.com.

      • Garrison Housing Oversight Office, call 684-5684 or e-mail usarmy.leavenworth.imcom-central.mbx.hso@mail.mil.

      • The resident’s military chain of command.

      • Garrison Commander’s Office, call 684-2993 or the newly established Commander’s Housing Concern Hotline at 684-3858.

In addition to these resources, residents can attend the monthly community mayors’ forum; attend the quarterly installation stakeholder meetings, a forum for the chain of command to share information and pass on community concerns; or participate in the quarterly Facebook town hall meetings.

The next Facebook town hall is 11 a.m. to noon April 12 on the Fort Leavenworth Facebook page.

  • Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities
Spring is on its way and Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities would like to remind residents to be proactive about general spring cleaning and the general maintenance upkeep of your home. Take this opportunity to get rid of the old and bring in the new. What may be one person’s junk could be someone else’s treasure, so consider donating yours if the items are still in good shape or put them aside for the spring post-wide yard sale April 27.
    Routine maintenance
Furnace filters and mulch, when in season and available, can be picked up at the FLFHC Maintenance Department on Warehouse Road next to the horse stables. Touch-up paint, light bulbs and grass seed are available for minimal cost. For touch-up paint, remember to bring a wide-mouth plastic container with a sealable lid, and the staff will provide a small amount of paint.
As the season changes, so does the weather. Rain will soon be on its way and roof gutters may need to be cleaned of any debris that has built up since fall. Contact the Maintenance Department at (913) 651-3838 and schedule a work order for a professional service technician with proper equipment to come out.
    Craft day
In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, FLFHC is hosting a children’s “Pot of Gold” paper craft from 11 a.m. to noon March 15. A sweet take-home treat will be provided while supplies last. Parental supervision is required for children age 14 and younger.
Scholarship opportunities for FLFHC residents are available through the Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of The Michaels Organization.
The foundation awards scholarship grants to residents of Michaels Organization properties who are pursuing some form of higher education, in college, trade or professional school, or institute. In 2019, the foundation will award at least $500,000 in scholarship grants. Last year, nearly 30 FLFHC residents received scholarship grants.
The scholarships are available to the family members of active-duty service members residing in housing communities owned or managed by the companies of The Michaels Organization, which includes Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities.
For more information or to download a copy of the application, visit https://tmo.com/foundation, or stop by the FLFHC Community Management office at 220 Hancock Ave. to pick up a printed application packet. Deadline to apply is April 12. Transcripts are required.
For more information, call (913) 682-6300.
    Birthday drawing
Have a child with a birthday in March? Come by the FLFHC office at 220 Hancock Ave. to enter him or her into the monthly birthday drawing. All submissions must be received in the FLFHC office by March 21.
    Page 2 of 2 - Coloring contest
Children’s coloring contest sheets are available online at www.ftleavenworthfamilyhousing.com and at the FLFHC office at 220 Hancock Ave. Entries must be received by March 21. Contest winners will receive a prize and have their artwork published in the FLFHC newsletter.
    Utilities tip
Turn lights off when not in use, even for short periods of time. Turning lights off and on uses less energy than if they are left on all the time.
Watch for more announcements on Facebook, followed by a One-Call Now e-mail message with event details. Visit the FLFHC website at www.ftleavenworthfamilyhousing.com for downloadable forms and other useful information.
