  • Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities
Inspections of painted surfaces throughout housing units that were constructed before 1978 — including housing in Main Post, Infantry Barracks, Santa Fe Village, Oregon Village, Upper Kansa Village and Wint Avenue — are still ongoing.
To date, more than 150 visual inspections have been completed and will continue until all pre-1978 homes are inspected. Residents of affected homes will be contacted by a Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities representative to make an appointment for a lead paint inspection.
Inspections are conducted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, unless circumstances require inspection times to be outside of these hours. The duration of the inspections vary depending on the size of the residence; however, it should not take longer than two hours.
For more information, contact the FLFHC Maintenance Office at (913) 651-3838.

This is a family-friendly event for all FLFHC residents. Quantities are limited. Parental supervision is required for anyone age 14 or younger.
    Craft day

    Scholarships
Scholarship opportunities for FLFHC residents are available through the Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of The Michaels Organization.
The foundation awards scholarship grants to residents of Michaels Organization properties who are pursuing some form of higher education, in college, trade or professional school, or institute. In 2019, the foundation will award at least $500,000 in scholarship grants. Last year, nearly 30 FLFHC residents received scholarship grants.
The scholarships are available to the family members of active-duty service members residing in housing communities owned or managed by the companies of The Michaels Organization, which includes Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities.
For more information or to download a copy of the application, visit https://tmo.com/foundation, or stop by the FLFHC Community Management office at 220 Hancock Ave. to pick up a printed application packet. Deadline to apply is April 12. Transcripts are required.

Residents can nominate themselves for the Super Saver of the Month award by submitting a nomination form, which can be found on the FLFHC website at www.ftleavenworthfamilyhousing.com. Utilities fact
You may have finished working, but your laptop and desktop computers are contributing to your electric bill. Be sure to keep your computers on sleep mode if not in use.
A desktop or laptop computer can still suck 15-21 watts when idle. Instead, turn it off and that could save up to $20 from one device alone. Inkjet printers and fax machines, as well as other computers, can easily add to these costs, so use power strips and flip them off when not in use. Source: Energy.gov.
