  • Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities
Ready or not, the holidays are here. As families begin to decorate for the most wonderful time of the year, Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities would like to remind residents of the policies for holiday lighting and the display of ornaments.
A reasonable amount of inside/outside electrical holiday decorations can be displayed 30 days before the holiday and removed within two weeks after the holiday.
Holiday exterior lighting should only be used from 6-11 p.m. Rooftop decorations are prohibited and all decorative materials must be fire resistant. Nails, spikes, building staples or any other type of fastener that may leave permanent damage is prohibited. Residents can use clips or tape to install holiday lighting, and should carefully inspect and control ornamental lighting to avoid fires. Outside lights and electrical cords must be designated for outdoor use. Residents should always check their smoke alarms before using holiday decorations.
Residents can place lawn ornaments on the lawn if the decorations are maintained and presented in a pleasing appearance and will not interfere with maintenance of the lawn.

    Page 2 of 3 - Extended absence
With holidays right around the corner, Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities would like to remind residents to notify the Community Management Office if they will be gone from their home for more than seven days. In addition, residents are encouraged to provide contact information to a friend, neighbor or family member in the local area in case of emergency to allow for adequate care of their home during their absence.
If an emergency arises during a resident’s absence, a member of the FLFHC staff may need to enter the home. Written notice of the entry will be left in the home if this happens. Contact the Community Management Office at (913) 682-6300 with any questions or concerns.
    Birthday drawing

Bring the form and a copy of the most recent utilities statement to the FLFHC office at 220 Hancock Ave. by the 21st of each month.
Families can nominate themselves each month for this award but can only win once per calendar year. All monthly winners receive a $25 Visa gift card.

    Yard maintenance
Barren Outdoor Solutions will continue to perform bi-weekly yard maintenance and leaf removal. Residents who have leaves or lawn clippings can place them in bags at the curb on their scheduled mow day and Barren Outdoor Solutions will dispose of them. Residents are asked to ensure that all toys, patio furniture, garden hoses and other items that might impede the Barren Team are put away on scheduled mowing days.
    Utilities tip
Every degree a home’s thermostat is turned down takes about 2-3 percent off the home’s energy bill. Lowering the thermostat five degrees at night and 10 degrees during the day could cut as much 20 percent off heating costs.
