During the monthly Unified School District 207 board meeting April 23 at the USD 207 Annex, board members accepted the resignation of board Vice President Marianne Eldridge effective May 29.
“I move that we approve the resignation of Marianne Eldridge as USD 207 board vice president with regret and thanks for her professional contributions to the district and students at USD 207,” said Myron Griswold, board president. “I don’t want to do it, but I will. That’s not a fun duty.”
Eldridge’s resignation comes in anticipation of her husband receiving orders to a new duty assignment within the next few weeks.

At its Feb. 26 meeting, the board accepted the resignation of board member Lt. Col. Pat Schoof effective May 24 because of Schoof’s reassignment.
In other news, Superintendent Keith Mispagel updated board members on online student enrollment for the 2018-19 school year.
To date, more than 1,250 students have been enrolled for the upcoming school year, Mispagel said.
“I’m very pleased with the improvements that we’ve made from last year to this year,” he said.
The current enrollment number is made up of students who are returning, students on the new student online enrollment who have brought in their proof of residency form and pre-kindergarten students who have brought in proof of residency.
“That’s what we go by,” Mispagel said. “If a new family comes here (and) they don’t have a proof of residency, they can apply, but they are not assigned to a school until they … have a signed proof of residency form.”
If a family is unsure of when they will arrive, but Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities can tell them where they expect there will be a vacancy in housing, then the family can submit a non-residential enrollment request with the school.
The final enrollment number will be calculated in July, Mispagel said.
The next USD 207 board meeting is at 4:30 p.m. May 21 at the USD 207 Annex. For a full overview of the meeting and the minutes, visit https://www.boarddocs.com/ks/usd207/Board.nsf/Public.
