  • The Fort Leavenworth Consignment and Thrift Shop, now at 1025 Sheridan Drive, regular store hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. Consignments are taken until 12:30 p.m. when the shop is open.
    All military personnel entering post on a motorcycle must show a valid Motorcycle Safety Foundation card or be turned away at the gate. Motorcycle safety courses are scheduled for the year. The next Basic Rider Courses are March 22-23, April 12-13, April 25-26, May 1-2, May 23-24 and June 5-6. Motorcycles are provided for the Basic Rider Course. The next Basic Rider Courses II (formerly known as the Experienced Rider Course) are March 20, April 3, April 19, May 10, May 21 and June 2. Soldiers attending the Basic Rider Course II must have their own properly licensed and insured motorcycle, along with all personal protective equipment. The next Sports Bike Courses are April 17, June 22 and Oct. 12. Class sizes are limited. A unit training administrator must enroll a prospective student through the Digital Training Management System at least 10 days before the class date.     The 2018 Army Officer Candidate School Alumni Association Reunion is March 25-28 in Columbus, Ga. The reunion will include a hall of fame induction ceremony, reception and formal dinner.     Applications for the John W. Poillon Scholarships are available at the Fort Leavenworth Army Education Center. The scholarship is open to high school seniors who are dependents of U.S. military members, currently or within the past 24 months assigned to Fort Leavenworth, or civilians who are currently employed at Fort Leavenworth by the U.S. government or a non-appropriated fund. The application deadline is March 30.
    Entries for the 2018 Friends of the Frontier Army Museum Essay Contest will be accepted through April 2. The contest is open to students in 9-12th grades who attend school close in proximity to Fort Leavenworth. For more information visit https://www.ffam. us/essay-contest.html.
    The Sherman Gate hours are now 6:30-8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday for inbound traffic and 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for outbound traffic only. The gate is closed on weekends and federal holidays.     The U.S. Disciplinary Barracks Sales Store has temporarily moved to 100 Riverside Avenue, near the railroad tracks. The move is to facilitate the renovation of the old location. Call the store at (913) 651-7377 for information. Because the temporary location is near the railroad tracks, patrons are asked to use caution and watch children carefully.

    Page 2 of 2 - The standard meal rates for cash- paying customers at the dining facility are now $3.45 for breakfast, $5.60 for lunch, $4.85 for dinner and $9.10 for holiday meals. The drive through is open 4:30-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 4-6 p.m. Weekday dine-in hours are 6:30-8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5-6:30 p.m. Weekend dine-in hours are 8-9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5-6:30 p.m. Grab-and-go hours are 8-9 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. Grab-and-go is closed for dinner weekends and holidays.
    The VISITOR CONTROL CENTER is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The facility is closed on all federal holidays except Memorial Day. After hours, visitors to Fort Leavenworth must obtain a visitor pass in advance or be escorted by a uniformed military member or spouse, a military retiree or spouse, or DoD civilian.
    Child and Youth Services is offering lunch and learn programs from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month through May at Osage Child Development Center, 130 Dickman Ave. The programs will include cooking demonstrations and healthy eating tips. The programs are free for CYS parents. Sign up by noon the day before by calling 684-5138. Future program dates are March 13, April 10 and May 8.
    Household hazardous waste can be dropped off at the HHW Collection Point in the basement of 810 McClellan Ave. weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are also outside drop-off cabinets that can be used after hours. Products should be kept in their original containers, when possible. Household hazardous waste includes automotive products, home improvement products, paint, varnish, paint thinner, paint stripper, caulk and adhesives, pesticides, household cleaners, batteries, cosmetics, lighter fluid, and arts and crafts materials. E-waste is also accepted at the collection point, including computers, cell phones, cameras, modems, monitors, televisions, printers, game systems and general electronics. Used motor oil and antifreeze can be dropped off at the Auto Craft Center at 911 McClellan Ave. or at an off-post garage.
    The monthly mandatory post training will include face-to-face Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention training. The training is the first Wednesday of the month (except July 2018 when the training will be the second Wednesday). The order of training is Suicide Prevention from 8-9 a.m., Threat Awareness Reporting Program from 9-10 a.m., SHARP from 10-11 a.m. and Army Substance Abuse Program from 11 a.m. to noon. Suicide Prevention, TARP and SHARP are yearly requirements. The requirement for ASAP is for newcomers to the installation to attend the class once. All attending must now sign-in before the start of each class with a Common Access Card. Contact Workforce Development at 684-1606 for information.
    Personnel claims for damage to household goods are handled by the U.S. Army Claims Service Center for Personnel Claims Supports in Fort Knox, Ky.
