The Super Saver Program is designed to promote conservation in the home and increase awareness and understanding of the information on resident utility statements.
Residents can nominate themselves for the Super Saver of the Month award by submitting a nomination form, which can be found on the Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities website at www.ftleavenworthfamilyhousing.com. Bring the form and a copy of the most recent utilities statement to the FLFHC office at 220 Hancock Ave. by the 21st of each month.
Families can nominate themselves each month for this award but can only win once per calendar year. All monthly winners receive a $25 Visa gift card. Monthly winners will also be eligible for the Super Saver of the Year award.
A profile of the winning family, including examples of the steps they have taken to conserve utilities in their home will be published in the Heritage Community Connection newsletter.
    Tree disposal
Barren Outdoor Solutions will be picking up live Christmas trees daily Dec. 26 through Jan. 12. Residents need to place trees on the curb without lights or ornaments. Artificial trees will not be picked up.
    Office closures
The FLFHC offices, including the Self-Help Store, will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday, and Jan. 1 for the New Year’s Day holiday. In case of a maintenance emergency or to submit a work order, call the 24-hour maintenance line at (913) 651-3838.
    Retirees, civilians
Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities is offering leasing opportunities to military retirees, Department of Defense civilians and Department of Justice civilians.
Retirees and civilians who move in during December will receive a $500 move-in bonus.

Change the furnace filter regularly. The recommended interval is once per month. Filters can be picked up at the Maintenance Department. Changing the filter before it gets dirty will reduce the work the furnace fan has to do and improve air circulation in the house.
