Don’t forget to “fall back” and set clocks back an hour – Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 5.
Take this opportunity to replace batteries in all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the home. To test smoke detectors, push and hold the test button down for a few seconds until it sounds.
If any problems are found with smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, contact the maintenance department at (913) 651-3838.

Seating is limited. To reserve a seat or for more information, contact Meghan Fowler at mfowler@themichaelsorg.com or (913) 682-6300.
    Extended absence
With holidays right around the corner, Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities would like to remind residents to notify the Community Management Office if they will be gone from their home for more than seven days. In addition, residents are encouraged to provide contact information to a friend, neighbor or family member in the local area in case of emergency to allow for adequate care of their home during their absence.
If an emergency arises during a resident’s absence, a member of the FLFHC staff may need to enter the home. Written notice of the entry will be left in the home if this happens. Contact the Community Management Office at (913) 682-6300 with any questions or concerns.
    Yard maintenance
Barren Outdoor Solutions will continue to perform bi-weekly yard maintenance and leaf removal. Resident who have leaves or lawn clippings can place them in bags at the curb on their scheduled mow day, and Barren Outdoor Solutions will dispose of them. Residents are asked to ensure that all toys, patio furniture, garden hoses and other items that might impede the Barren Team are put away on scheduled mowing days.
    Trash and recycling
Trash and recycle bins can be placed curbside after 8 p.m. the day before regular collection day. Bins should be curbside by 7 a.m. on collection day. All bins should be returned to their proper storage location by the end of collection day.
    Office closures

Beautiful and historic Fort Leavenworth has much to offer families, including a safe and secure environment in which to live, work and play; excellent schools; and convenient proximity to Kansas City, the surrounding metropolitan area and the many attractions the Midwest has to offer.
Contact FLFHC for more information and availability. Select neighborhoods and a variety of homes and styles are available and restrictions may apply.
    Utilities tip
Space heaters cost a bundle to operate. If your thermostat isn’t heating to the temperature you have set, call the Maintenance Deptartment. Also, make sure you don’t have any heat-generating electronics near your thermostat. This can trick your thermostat into shutting off too soon. For a bit more heat at night, consider using an electric blanket at 100 watts instead of a space heater at 1,500 watts.
