Smith Dental Clinic’s mission is to provide professional dental care and treatment services to all active-duty personnel assigned to the area.
The Dental Command’s goal is to have 95 percent of active-duty personnel at class 1 or 2 for dental readiness. Currently, the database reflects lower than usual dental readiness for personnel assigned at Fort Leavenworth.
These are the four classifications of dental readiness:
Class 1. Patients with a current dental examination, who do not require dental treatment or reevaluation.
Class 2. Patients with a current (within 12 months) dental examination, who require non-urgent dental treatment or reevaluation for oral conditions, which are unlikely to result in dental emergencies.
Class 3. Patients who require urgent or emergent dental treatment.
Class 4. Patients who require an annual dental examination — 12 months or longer has passed and treatment needs must be identified.
Personnel assigned to Fort Leavenworth who are not currently in treatment and fall into the Class 4 category will be notified via e-mail reminders.
Designated unit representatives can come to Smith Dental Clinic’s headquarters section and see April Jiles to determine unit treatment needs.
Smith Dental Clinic is open 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:15-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dental exams are available 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 12:15-2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dental sick call is 7:30-9 a.m. Monday through Friday.
