A number of residents moving in and out each winter. To make the transition as simple and stress free as possible, Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities reminds residents of the procedures required to successfully clear a home.
Residents planning to vacate a home in the near future must fill out the “30-Day Notice to Vacate” form that can be found at www.ftleavenworthfamilyhousing .com or at the FLFHC office located at 549 Kearney Ave. Once the form is completed and submitted to the FLFHC office with a copy of orders, the residents receive a scheduled move-out inspection date along with a packet of information to assist in preparing for final inspection. This packet contains a move-out checklist, clearing procedures, cleaning standards and a schedule of charges along with a move out survey. These forms can also be obtained on the FLFHC website.
On the day of the final move-out inspection, an FLFHC housing inspector will document the condition of the home and account for all items that belong to the home, such as carbon monoxide detectors and appliances. If damages exist beyond normal wear and tear, residents may be assessed a damage charge at this time. Be sure that all cleaning responsibilities detailed on the move-out checklist have been completed or charges may be assessed for any move-out cleaning not performed.
Trash and recycle containers should be empty, clean and stored next to the home. Grass in fenced-in areas should be mowed and all pet waste removed. All keys, garage openers and name letters that were assigned to the resident at the time of move-in must be accounted for and turned over to the housing inspector.
Residents are also responsible for their final utility bill, or if a refund is to be given, a check will be mailed to the forwarding address provided on the 30-Day Notice to Vacate form.
Residents cannot clear housing until a final move-out inspection is completed through the FLFHC office, plan accordingly to allow time.
For any questions regarding the move-out procedures, see the FLFHC Resident Guideline and Community Handbook or call the office at (913) 682-6300.
