Fort Leavenworth school children will have a Freedom Walk Sept. 10 to commemorate and honor the lives of those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and those who help maintain freedom. Children will leave their schools between 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. to walk to Normandy Field, located behind the Board of Education office on Biddle Boulevard. There will be a brief ceremony at 9:45 a.m., then the children will walk back to their schools. The public is invited to participate in the walk and encouraged to wear red, white and blue in honor of the day.
