Congratulations to Chandra Barck, Emily Harper, Clifford Hodges Jr., Janay Johnson, Rebecca Stapfer, James Tennant Jr., Heather Tennant and Megan White for their success. $25,500 was awarded to deserving students this year.
The foundation awards scholarship grants to residents of Michaels Organization properties who are pursuing some form of higher education in college, trade/professional school or institute. In its first 20 years, the foundation awarded more than $2.8 million to worthy students throughout the country. This year, the foundation will award at least $175,000 in scholarship grants.
Fort Leavenworth has consistently had high-caliber students apply for the scholarships. The scholarships have been available at Fort Leavenworth since 2006 when housing became privatized. Since then, $140,500 in scholarship money has been awarded to residents of Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities.
FLFHC would also like to congratulate the 2012 recipient of the Michaels Employee Scholarships, Alexis Farris.

Utilities tip
A watched pot will eventually boil — but putting a lid on it reduces cooking time and energy use. Also, match the pot size to burner size to avoid energy waste.
